Sell your used
generator in the UK.
Selling a used generator? Send UGT the details for an assessment. We consider diesel and gas sets, individual machines and multiple-unit packages.
Tell us about your generator.
Open sets, acoustic generators, containerised equipment, non-runners and surplus units are all considered, subject to assessment. Include photographs of the set and nameplate when sending your enquiry.
We consider used, surplus and standby generators
Tell UGT about an individual diesel or gas generating set, a standby unit being replaced, surplus fleet equipment or a non-running generator. Open, acoustic and containerised sets are considered subject to assessment. Owners, facilities managers, construction companies and demolition contractors can start with the information available.
Make the generator easy to identify
Send the set manufacturer and engine brand separately if known. Examples include FG Wilson sets with Perkins engines, CAT / Caterpillar generators, Cummins, Volvo, SDMO and Atlas Copco. For another make, supply the plate details rather than trying to match a category. Prime and standby outputs should keep their original labels.
How the enquiry works
- Provide your contact details, location, specification and condition, using “unknown” where needed.
- Send clear photographs and any available records. We may need more information or an inspection before discussing a purchase.
- If the set is suitable, agree the equipment, price, payment and collection responsibilities in writing.
Questions from generator owners
Can I enquire without knowing the kVA or model?
Yes. Write “unknown” and send a readable nameplate photograph if available. You do not need to guess the technical details.
Will you consider a non-running generator?
Non-running and surplus units are considered subject to assessment. Describe known faults, missing parts and when the unit last ran. An enquiry does not guarantee a purchase.
Can I offer more than one generator?
Yes. Include a separate asset reference and description for each unit, along with its location and any deadline for the site.
Does an enquiry include collection or disconnection?
No. Discuss access and whether the generator is still installed. Assessment, isolation, lifting and transport responsibilities must be agreed for the particular job.
How is a used generator valued?
The specification, condition, records, included equipment and recovery requirements all affect an assessment. A headline kVA or hour reading alone is not a valuation.
